We manage our soil by carrying out regular visual assessments alongside a 4-year sampling and scanning programme to identify in-field variations in soil across our farms.
Findings are used to tailor our approach and target inputs throughout each growing season to optimise soil health and maximise output.
Field Drainage
Our programme of investment has extended working windows helping us to work our land in optimum conditions.
Cover Cropping
Cover crops help us to protect bare fields over winter and provides ‘green manure’ before they are planted with spring crops.
Organic Manure
Using organic manure supports our aim to reduce our reliance on non-organic inputs as well as our ethos of integration between our livestock and crop production enterprises.
In-field Traffic Control
Managing wheeling’s during operations over the course of the growing season helps us to reduce compaction which minimises damage to soil structure and supports movement of air, water and nutrients throughout the soil profile.
Our purpose is to continue to act as honourable long-term custodians, to protect the heritage created over past centuries and with integrity enhance the legacy for future generations.
